What is a Carbon Facial?

This Treatment is sometimes called Carbon Skin Rejuvenation, Carbon Skin Peel or Black Doll Facial. This non-invasive facial treatment combines laser technology and activated carbon.

It’s painless with virtually no-downtime procedure that helps rejuvenate the appearance of aging and damaged skin. The treatment freshens the complexion by removing the outer layers of dead skin cells from the skin, leaving an amazing glow with a vibrant, youthful complexion.

How does it work?

A layer of liquid carbon is applied to the skin, it quickly dries and penetrates deep into the pores. Laser light is highly attracted to carbon particles. The reaction causes a mini explosion. The explosion pushes the energy, in the form of heat, deep into the layers of the skin where elastin and collagen are activated and cells begin producing anew. Meanwhile, on the surface of the skin, the carbon is vaporized along with any dirt, oil or dead skin cells. Sounds kind of scary, but don’t worry there’s very little discomfort or pain. The sensation has been described as a mild tingling or very slight pinch.

Who is a good candidate?

All skin tones, from light to dark, can be safely treated with this laser. Also, those who have received Accutane or any oral Vitamin A acne therapy cannot be treated for 6 months after their last dose.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

The number of sessions needed is dependent on the size of the treatment area, and the desired effect. Usually, we recommend a course of 2-6 treatments, to take place every 2-3 weeks for the best in beautiful, long-lasting results.

How Do I Look After My Skin After The Treatment?

There is no downtime, you can return to your regular activities directly following your treatment.

Though you may experience some slight redness, this will clear up within a few hours, and can be soothed with some aloe vera gel. We recommend keeping the skin clean and dry while it’s red, but once this has cleared up, makeup can be worn. Try to avoid oily makeup however, as this will clog your pores again. We recommend using SPF 50 sun cream to protect the area for at least 1 month following on from treatment, as failure to do so could result in hyperpigmentation.
